So be sure to get all that you need for that month if possible to take maximum advantage of the discount. Accu-Check realizes this and wants to help those who need to get these strips on a regular basis. This is much cheaper than those by other more popular brands who tout high accuracy for their brand name strips, but admittedly, is higher than those you can get as off-brand over-the-counter. The strips, depending on where you shop, can be anywhere between $27.99-$29.99 per 50 count. They’ll then send you an email with your Simple Pay digital card that you can then show your pharmacist once you get the prescription for the meter and strips. With their new Simple Pay Program, you can now not only get a free Guide meter, but you can also save on your strips if you have to pay out of pocket for your strips. The one tip that does help is to grab the strip with your thumb and just let it pull up like a pack of gum, then grab it with two fingers to pull out. I mentioned this in my call with Roche, and they offered a few tips. It’s great when the vial is full, however, once you get closer to the end, it’s harder to grab the strips. While the new vial and no-spill concept are great, there is one drawback that I have found in my own use. And – get this – they do NOT spill! What does this mean? It means that it not only meets but exceeds the current FDA requirements for results to be within 15 mg/dL if below 75 mg/dL, or within 15% if above 75mg/dL.
